About Mark Pietrowski

Experienced Leader, Educator and Public Servant with a demonstrated history of working in the higher education industry and government. Has a Doctorate of Education - Ed. D. focused in Department of Counseling and Higher Education with an emphasis on Community College Leadership. Recognized with a Supportive Professional Staff Presidential Excellence Award along with a $1,500 award stipend in 2017 and selected as an Edgar Fellow in 2018 as a leader in Illinois and one of 40 selected individuals for the program out of over 170 applicants. Successfully led a county board of 24 members with an annual budget around $100 million for a population of for six years. Unanimously passed balanced budgets each year and successfully expanded business, industry and economic development in the county in addition to numerous other accomplishments. Active in the community having served on multiple non-profit boards, run fundraising and item collecting drives and having served as a President of DeKalb Kiwanis service organization and currently as a member of the Cortland Lions Club. We just elected to be the Mayor of Cortland, Illinois on April 6, 2021 and will also act as the Town Manager.
