About Mark Quirsfeld

I’m a 15 year+ IB DP experienced Humanities educator who has modelled and promoted the IB learner profile extensively. When teaching politics and economics I focus on implementing creative teaching approaches to engage students in the content. My deep understanding of curriculum (planning, teaching & assessment) accelerated me to develop curriculum alignment charts, improve accreditation teams for WASC, CIS & SACS as well as strengthen professional development in project based learning and backwards by design. I’ve mastered the ability to teach across a range of ages and abilities, where my strengths in collaboration, organisation and problem solving will really shine. I am always keen to take learning outside the classroom with field trips and guest speakers and have done so in my current role. The IB Global Politics central unifying theme of “people, power and politics” focuses on 4 core units of Power, Sovereignty and International Relations; Human Rights; Development; Peace and Conflict. These directly relate to my experience of teaching topics in IB DP History, IB DP Economics, IB DP TOK & AP Human Geography. I have directly led case studies on the Middle East conflict along with Brexit and the Korean peninsula. I’ve actively been involved in the creating school community to which my excellent organisation and interpersonal skills are inherently suited. My drive and passion are second to none, and I can’t wait to support your school dynamic!
