About Mark Rankin

I’m a New Zealand citizen with over 40 years insurance experience. In addition to working in New Zealand, I’ve had wide experience in the Pacific region working 9 years in Papua New Guinea, Fiji, Vanuatu, and the Solomon Islands. I’ve a rounded industry experience handling fire and general, casualty, professional lines (liability), marine, aviation, construction and medical (employee benefits). I have considerable experience with placing insurance in overseas markets. I have had a lot of claims experience – earthquake claims (PNG, Christchurch and Kaikoura), Cyclone claims (Pacific Island cyclones ‘Uma’, ‘Eric’, and ‘Nigel’), large fire losses, and construction claims on civil works projects. Having worked in Papua New Guinea; and Wellington after earthquakes, and Pacific Islands after cyclones and volcanic eruptions, I am very familiar with broking in a hard insurance market where capacity is tight.
