About Mark Rist

As the Director of Response & Resilience at Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS), I lead a team of over 1,200 professionals who deliver high-quality and responsive services to the communities we serve. I have over 30 years of experience in the fire and rescue sector, I hold prestigious credentials such as Fellow of the Institution of Fire Engineers, Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute, and Chartered Manager, I'm also a Member of the Institute of Directors. My core competencies include strategic leadership, incident command, partnership development, and governance. I am passionate about enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of KFRS by collaborating with partner agencies, such as the police, the ambulance service, local authorities, and voluntary organisations. I'm also an Appointed Governor for the South East Coast Ambulance Service and a Trustee for the Kent Search and Rescue charity, where I provide oversight, advice, and challenge to the executive and non-executive members of the board. My mission is to ensure that the emergency services in Kent work together to protect and support the people who need us the most.
