About Mark Robinson

Artist-engineer, committed, motivated, adept at adaptive problem-solving with high creativity and extensive experience in system analysis and team building towards developing, executing and attaining long-term purpose, goals, and problem resolution. Spearheaded the development of the world-class media production program and lab (Media Art Space) at UNC-CH. As Director of the Media Art Space Lab in the UNC-CH Communication department, Mark Robinson’s extensive technical expertise, encompasses the making and assessment of media particularly those involving audio, computer, Internet technologies, and video. In specific, Robinson’s knowledge of multimedia forms, techniques, compression (both time and file), streaming media, forensic audio techniques, and tools – both software and hardware – allow him to read media, such as video, with a technical, artistic and cultural expertise. Specifics such as location, graphics, editing, lighting, camera angles, skill level of editor, signature of editor/shooter, permit informed assessments about those elements with regards to media construction and its message.
