About Mark S. Nelson

My passions lie in learning more about positivity, motivation and grit. My professional strengths include but are not limited to public speaking, teaching and instruction, advising college students as well as college life management. The credo for every class I teach is "Start where you are, use what you have and do what you can". If you strive to learn something new and discover something different each and every day, you will have more to use each and every day. I am a proud member of the NACADA: The Global Community for Academic Advising. I enjoy working and learning from my peers all across the country. I recently presented at OACADA 2015 Spring Conference and the NACADA Region 7 Conference 2015. The topic of the presentations were "The Art of Positive Advising through Freshman Orientation: Helping Students Create their Stories". I recently accepted a seat on NACADA's Diversity Committee. I am looking forward to the privilege and opportunity of learning and serving the organization and my peers.
