About Mark Schultz

I have research experience in government and industry setting in the field of neuroscience, dating back to 2007. I have used animal models to study CNS insults such as progressive neurodegenerative diseases (e.g, Alzheimer’s Disease), and poisoning with neurotoxic compounds (e.g, chemical warfare nerve agents [CWNA]). During my career, I have held the following roles and responsibilities:• Lead development of translatable in vivo models of neurodegenerative disorders toward two oral presentations at high visibility scientific conferences and a manuscript for publication (in review)• Lead experiments to assess therapeutic efficacy of putative neuroprotective treatments in vivo behavioral models of CWNA exposure resulting in multiple presentations at scientific conferences and two first author publications in scientific journals.• Initiated collaborative effort to characterize tauopathy in transgenic murine models• Lead efforts to obtain institutional and government grants for scientific projects• Provided neuroanatomical expertise in collaborative studies• Provided scientific mentorship for student internsSFN 2017 presentation"Neuronal excitation enhances tau release In vitro and the spread to distal anatomically connected regions In
