About Mark Sebald

I have extensive experience developing high quality software, using a wide range of languages, tools, and methodologies. Schooled as an electrical engineer, I started my career developing digital and analog hardware while writing assembly language for micro-controllers. While I retain many of my HW skills, I soon switched to exclusively producing embedded firmware in 'C'. Next, I assisted in the creation of large scale warehouse management systems, using a 'C' code base, running on Unix or VMS. Fluency in SQL and PL/SQL was required to support the Oracle DB. I also provided customer support, participated on-site go-live events, and trained a customer's developers, to maintain their own system. My role, working for the technology arm of a large printing firm, required using C++, so I became adept at OOP, while developing Windows programs, and using MS SQL Server for the DB. It was here that I switched from C++, to developing with.NET and C#. Next, I maintained and enhanced OpenSpan solutions (aka Pega Robotics Process Automation). A desktop automation tool, for a large financial services firm. Our organization became a Salesforce.com customer, and as part of the supporting team I became an SFDC Certified Developer, though I continued to use C# and OpenSpan for other projects. After that, I returned to my embedded system roots, developing firmware for cardiograph machines, using C/C++ for a medical equipment manufacturer. In my latest role, I developed backend software in Elixir, for a cryptocurrency lender.
