About Mark Seel

Mr. Seel has over 28 years of experience performing geotechnical, civil, and environmental engineering on projects throughout the United States and overseas that involved slope stabilization, ground improvement for shallow foundations, deep foundations for high-rise buildings in urban areas, groundwater containment, utilities, and trenchless construction including microtunneling, horizontal bores, and HDD. His areas of expertise include rock cut design and stabilization; mine hazard analysis; design of shallow and deep foundation systems; soil-bentonite slurry walls; trenchless construction; conventional excavation; ground improvement methods; vibration monitoring and geotechnical instrumentation; and forensic engineering studies. His expertise in rock mechanics includes investigation, design, and construction of rock cuts, assessment of rock slope stability and mitigation, and assessment of material properties for conventional and trenchless excavation. His deep foundation expertise includes investigation, design, and construction of high capacity drilled caissons and driven piles, and tie-down anchors. Mr. Seel has provided expert geotechnical consultation litigation support on cases involving latent and patent defects associated with construction. During his career, Mr. Seel, has obtained significant experience in the field and office relating to the design and construction of rock cuts / site excavation, shallow and deep foundations, tie-down anchors, rock bolts, shotcrete, slurry walls, and geotechnical instrumentation, all of which have contributed to his responsive, practical geotechnical problem-solving approach. Mr. Seel prepares technical papers and presentations at technical lectures on these topics. Mr. Seel has participated on technical committees for DFI, TRB, and ASCE, and has contributed to the preparation of technical standards including HDD best management practices.
