About Mark Shkolnikov
Mark Shkolnikov is a Principal of Development at Group i, a real estate development practice that unites the diverse tasks of architecture, finance, construction, property management and marketing in order to build accessible projects that are affordable by design. Previously, Mark was a Principal with IwamotoScott, an award-winning and internationally recognized architecture practice established in San Francisco. IwamotoScott was a recipient of the Smithsonian Cooper Hewitt 2019 National Design Award. Mark managed and lead design work on many high-profile, multi-family housing, single family, and office projects in San Francisco including 950 Market, 770 Woolsey, 1270 Mission, 1028 Market, Treasure Island C2.2, 560 Brannan, and 701 Harrison, as well as 4575 Santa Monica in Los Angeles and SBCAST, the Santa Barbara Center for Art, Science, and Technology - recipient of the 2016 AIA California Council Honor Award in Residential Design. Mark received a Bachelor of Environmental Design from the University of Colorado at Boulder and a Master of Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania, with subsequent studies at the Architectural Association in London. In addition to his role at Group i, Shkolnikov is currently an Adjunct Professor at California College of the Arts, and teaches in the Materiality and Space sequence. His research interests focus on material technology and contemporary means of fabrication. Shkolnikov's work has been recognized by the AIA California Council with an Honor Award in Residential Design, as well as an AIA San Francisco Merit Award, an AIA Santa Barbara Honor Award, and a Builder's Choice and Custom Home Merit Award.
