About Mark Spear

With over 14 years of work experience in cyber security, I am passionate about protecting information systems and data from cyber threats and risks. I have a Bachelors of Science in Information Technology/Software Engineering, and I hold several professional certifications, such as Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), and CompTIA Security+. My field of expertise is cyber risk management and policy control, and I have experience in deploying and maintaining security infrastructure, implementing security systems, conducting vulnerability tests, and responding to cyber incidents. In my current role, I am responsible for implementing security systems, such as firewalls, data protection controls, SIEM, IDS and vulnerability scanning, to safeguard the company's information and networks from unauthorized access, attacks, or breaches. I also monitor the information systems and respond to any cyber security incidents that may occur, and I automate security controls, data, and processes to improve efficiency and reliability. Additionally, I develop policy around third-party risk with vendors and suppliers, and I identify and manage data privacy risks and compliance requirements. I also train employees to understand and follow security measures. I present cyber-related presentations to internal and external stakeholders. Some of the skills that I use in my daily work are cyber risk management, incident response, forensic analysis, and security awareness training. I enjoy working with a diverse and talented team of security professionals, and I am always eager to learn new technologies and standards in the cyber security field.
