About Mark Thiele

With 15+ years of IT leadership, I've found working hard and smart for people yields best results. Respect for leadership and hierarchy, management of multiple diverse assets, integrity, professionalism, and interpersonal communications are skills and values I first honed providing real-time intelligence data during 2 tours as a US Naval Operations Specialist. I seek to contribute my leadership and IT skills to help improve organizational function and grow a team that values transparency, integrity, and personal development. My goal: work either directly for a CIO or serve as CIO. My strongest skills are project management, strategic planning, building IT departments from scratch, defining how IT will run, setting benchmarks, keeping a hand and right-clicking in the day-to-day operations, as well sourcing and vetting technology, finding partners, creating and cultivating relationships, and implementing new technology. I am also excellent at creating, marketing, and presenting trainings that motivate end users to attend, accept, and use technology properly. I especially enjoy presenting and training IT people to better communicate and to get over their fear of public speaking. PHILOSOPHY Many in IT bear-hug their jobs and knowledge thinking that's what makes them irreplaceable. But that's not true. The best results come from transparency, sharing knowledge, and creating systems that are clear, organized, and understandable for all team members. In leading interns and staff, I teach that you are working for the company, not your career or ego. Doing the job right means focusing on people, technology, and functional systems. The best security wall is the human eye, when everyone understands why and how things are connected, participates in improving systems, and shares security responsibility.
