About Mark Turnbull

Having over 15 years of experience in the credit union and banking field, I enjoy working in a retail setting. My journey has taken me from customer experience associate, dealing with client’s day to day transactions to loans officer, handling all parts of the clients banking needs to senior lending associate working with account managers. As a loans officer I helped clients with their daily banking I needed to take a proactive approach to discover their needs and listen to understand what they are asking for. Knowing when to escalate problems and when it was appropriate to suggest banking solutions left clients more willing to open up. This allowed to identify and fulfil simple sales opportunities. Underwriting residential mortgages not only taught me the skills of credit, funding and documentation but it also allowed me to really connect with clients and learn about their lives and situations. It allowed me to fully understand the loan cycle from the broker application, underwriting, account opening, funding and documentation. Collaborating with Business and Commercial account managers to provide support and guidance for all aspects of their clients lending needs showed me the power of teamworking and working collaboratively. Knowing the regulatory requirements, client relationship management system and transactional processes allowed me to problem solve many complex situations. After completing a few financial planning courses, my passion has now shifted into investing and wealth management. To that end, I have completed my Canadian Securities Course, Conduct and Practices HandBook and I am now taking the Wealth Management Essentials course. I hope to apply my skills, education and experience to try career path. I find joy in walking in my neighborhood, watching bad movies, spending time with my cat, exercising and a hot cup of coffee.
