About Mark van der Giessen
My research explores how individuals organize across societal- and conflict divides to instigate positive change in a variety of extreme contexts and societal (grand) challenges. In addition, I am committed to innovating responsible scholarship by contributing to conversations on research ethics and advancing the methodologies we wield. I employ qualitative, quantitative as well as mixed-methodologies to address my research questions, including interview and participant observation-based fieldwork, online survey studies and secondary data analysis.
