About Mark Velko

As a control room manager with over 30 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, I am leading the remote operations for Summit Carbon Solutions, the world's largest anthropogenic carbon capture pipeline project. My mission is to establish a world-class control center that ensures safety, reliability, and compliance for the pipeline network, which will span five states and capture over 17 million tons of carbon dioxide annually. I bring diverse perspectives and experiences to the table, having worked in different regions, markets, and projects in the energy sector. I leverage my skills in oil and gas, control center supervision, and remote operations to optimize the pipeline system's performance, efficiency, and safety. I also implement and monitor policies, procedures, and standards for the control room, and provide training and mentoring to my team. I am passionate about creating a culture of excellence, innovation, and collaboration among my team and stakeholders. I am proud to be part of a project advancing the energy transition.
