I teach writing and rhetoric, mostly to students trying to survive algorithms, systems, and the soft tyranny of metrics. I’ve worked both as a composition professor and as an information systems manager, and I carry both languages—human and machine—with suspicion and curiosity. These days, I focus on AI literacy, technical writing, and human-centered pedagogy. That means asking what it means to write with machines, but also what it means to remain human in the act of teaching, designing, or speaking. I live in New Orleans, which might be the only city that understands how beauty, rot, and invention belong together. I try to teach that way too.
