About Mark Winterbotham

I am a Director of IFF Research, and Head of Learning and Skills Research. I have worked at IFF for over 22 years, and specialise in studies on learning and training, skills, employment and recruitment, apprenticeships, labour markets, careers advice and guidance, and construction and the built environment. I work mainly for public sector clients such as BIS, CITB, DfE, UKCES, and Welsh Government. I’ve worked on many long-term, on-going studies including the National Employer Skills Survey series since 2003 (initially in England, now UK-wide), Construction Employer Attitudes to Learning and Training since 2005, and the Prior Qualifications of Adult Learners series since 2005. All have served to enhance the quality of information available to policy makers about the state of the labour market, and the impact of and demand for learning and training. Outside of work I’m a keen football, golf and chess player, and an avid reader.
