Director of Heywood, Middleton & Rochdale Circle (HMR Circle) since 2012. Initially recruited to manage the launch of this new social enterprise, but shortly after the parent company closed. I took the decision that I had built the strong foundations of a great Social Enterprise and had a made really strong infrastructure. So making a series of strategic changes and recruiting an amazing staff team we became a fully independent Community Interest Company. Since becoming independent we have grown the business across every indicator, winning awards, including Greater Manchester Social Enterprise of the Year. We are expanding the business, both locally and nationally and are have also hosted several international delegations who have come to look at the model we have developed here at HMR Circle. Chairman Rochdale Hornets Rugby League Football Club 2009-2018 Became Chairman at Rochdale Hornets after the previous incarnation of the club had gone into administration. The RFL then appointed a management company to run the 'new' Hornets, and during their short spell in charge they lost This was the what I inherited when I took on the role. Within 12 months we turned around the 6 figure loss into a break even position. We began to develop the club and infrastructure. Simple things like the club didn't even have it own website. We reconnected with the clubs and towns heritage, culminating in bringing in a world cup fixture, the 1st in any sport to the town. Notable legacy projects which the club continue enjoy are many but two in-particular are we created a charitable foundation and media department which is still achieving great things. The highlights of my tenure though has to be the club winning its 1st trophy in 91 years beating local rivals Oldham in the play-off final. This achievement was beaten when we defeated Toulouse Olympic in 2016 to be League 1 Champions. The 1st time the club could call themselves Champions in 97 years.
