About Mark Yates

I am a physician-scientist and leader in real-world data and real-world evidence strategy, with a clinical background in rheumatology and deep expertise in real world evidence consulting in healthcare and life sciences. I am currently director of real-world data and evidence strategy at Thermo Fisher Scientific, where I lead on identifying and evaluating companies with novel data sources and methodologies for partnership or acquisition. I also lead on multiple consulting engagements across the world for pharmaceutical and biotech companies, primarily focusing on RWD/E strategy delivery, post marketing safety studies, comparative effectiveness, and new data generation or augmentation. Prior to working in consultancy, I practiced medicine in London for 8 years, working at registrar and consultant level in Rheumatology. I hold a PhD from KCL in epidemiology and statistical methods focusing on rheumatoid arthritis, and hold an honorary lecturer position in the KCL centre for rheumatic diseases. I have over citations on my peer-reviewed publications, and have presented my work internationally at conferences.
