About Mark Zogg

Very organized and team oriented, I have more than thirty years of experience in biological and medical research. I have experience in both academia and private industry and I have collaborated on projects with colleagues on campus, across the country, and internationally. My skill set includes: • Single cell RNA seq on the 10X Genomics and Illumina platforms • cDNA library construction and bulk RNA seq • SYBR and TaqMan qPCR • RNA and DNA isolation from cell culture and tissues • Primer and protocol design for standard PCR, qPCR, Sanger sequencing • CRISPR design for in-vitro experiments and mutant animal models utilizing vectors and RNPs • Molecular cloning of expression and targeting vectors utilizing standard restriction cloning, PCR cloning, gene block cloning, recombineering, site-directed mutagenesis, and Gibson assembly • Preparation of reagents for transgenic injections and gene targeting and PCR screening of post-targeting clones and of post-microinjection offspring • Infection of mice with live bacteria to induce sepsis • Tissue culture experience with adherent cells • Data analysis/experimental design software: Microsoft Office, SnapGene, GraphPad Prism, NCBI Gene, Ensembl genome, Illumina Basespace, CRISPOR, SMS and molbiotools • Experience maintaining reagent and cryo inventory databases • Mouse colony management: basic husbandry; database maintenance; design and optimization of PCR screening strategies; planning and implementing complex experimental mating schemes involving multiple mutant alleles and conditional knockouts; experimental observations • Mouse handling: intraperitoneal, subcutaneous, and retro-orbital injections; blood and tissue collection; tail and ear biopsies; ear tagging; vaginal plug checks • Asked by multiple research groups to provide consultation on questions regarding mouse colony management, mating schemes, and PCR screening strategies • Other animal husbandry experience: rats, pigs, zebrafish, xenopus and 15 other species
