Background

About Markane Sipraseuth

KANSAI UNIVERSITY (Specially Appointed Associate Professor) 1 Classes - My goal is to interest and inspire students to learn more about the class subject through a combination of Project Based Learning PBL, hands on activities, guest speakers, field trips, lectures, presentations, observations, experiments, interviews, analysis, discussion, and whatever else I can come up. Basically, students become the curious scientist to learn more about the topic. I teach business classes ranging from Entrepreneurship, Marketing, Critical Thinking, SDGs, and Sociology. Also, language skill classes that include Presentation, Discussion, and Study Abroad preparation. Furthermore, some classes include a Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) component. 2 Oversea Short Term Program - I also have taken Kansai University students to the University of Hawaii and Panyapiwat Institute of Management in Thailand to study sustainability and business. 3 Research - Please see below. KYOTO UNIVERSITY (PhD student) 1 Research - My research topic is bilingual dual-role employees who have a primary job role and secondary role as an informal interpreter called bridge individuals. More specifically, I investigate migrant bridge individuals in Japanese small medium sized enterprises (SMEs) and their challenges, behavior, and strategies as an informal interpreter as they navigate errors, ethics, and emotions. Furthermore, I am interested on their interpreter role, organizational support, and dual role balancing act and the how it impacts their wellbeing. 2 Inspiration - Inspired by my parents hardships as working blue-class refugees in America, I hope to bring to light research on the challenges of migrant workers. I have presented my research at conferences in Japan and internationally.
