About Marks Alexander

I am a registered architect with over 30 years of experience in a broad range of architectural project types. During my 10+ years at Praxis3, I have been heavily involved in driving Praxis3 to a national leadership position in the Automotive Retail Sector while at the same time maintaining a strong involvement in our Higher Education Studio. I have an intense passion for design which has allowed me to be involved in some of the firms most powerful and unique designs. Charles Eames once said that ”design is based largely on constraints”. Perhaps it is this principle which has driven my gravitation to the most complex and challenging projects as they seem to push us to the most unique solutions.Early in my career, while working for some of the top firms in Atlanta, I had the opportunity to work on a very broad range of projects including Healthcare, Industrial and Medical Research Facilities, K-12 Schools, Higher Education as well as a number of Vehicle Maintenance Facilities. In recent years, I have continued to hone my skills with Higher Ed through working with the University of Georgia and Georgia Institute of Technology on a number of projects including; a mid-century modern renovation of the Visual Arts Building for the College of Environmental Design, a design for an addition to the same building, a renovation to the Marine Science Building and a the creation of the Robotics and Intelligent Machines Lab for Georgia Tech. My role in the Automotive Retail Studio has involved the design of over 100 dealerships as well as prototype and roll-out design for Porsche, Mercedes-Benz, Lexus and Rolls Royce. Through this work I have cultivated a number of long term relationships with corporate clients such as Mercedes-Benz, Lexus, AutoNation and Asbury Automotive Group.There are few things as rewarding as walking through a recently completed, functioning building and reflecting on the fact that, just months ago, it started as a simple sketch.
