About Markus Bergland

Tech and quality geek at heart, entrepreneur and software developer by education, I’m a student finishing my masters in June. After having the opportunity to work as a surrogate entrepreneur for a year, developing a project we call HoneyGuide that seeks to bring a tailor fit tool for ad-hoc software testing, I’ve learned to apply the entrepreneurial mindset in a software context – a mix between critical out of the box thinking and agile methodology that is the perfect fit for quality assistive work within complex settings. With a background in software engineering, I have a hunger to create and the ability to do so. I've worked in Java, C, Haskell, SQL, and Dafny, giving me a broad understanding of code as a tool. As my education shifted into entrepreneurial and societal studies my experiences have widened, to now include venture creation and analysis of technology impact. I'm used to risk mitigation and thrive in high workload environments.Finally, and as a compliment to the world-class education I’ve been privileged to take part in, I’ve sought to compliment my academic knowledge with relevant, modern, experiences. This has lead me to work within the core of open sources at Open Invention Network and to work within the CSR and educational project Umnandi, teaching entrepreneurial skills to students in South Africa. It’s this mix of experiences and drive that I now want to use in order to drive quality work within software engineering, especially in smaller, agile, teams who know the value created when social and technical focus meet.
