About Markus Boehringer

Dr. Markus P. Boehringer has a deep experience and understanding of pharmaceutical research and development as reflected in his numerous publications, patent applications and presentations. The majority of his 20 years of research in the pharmaceutical industry at F. Hoffmann-La Roche, he dedicated to Medicinal Chemistry, finally leading the Cardiovascular & Metabolic Medicinal Chemistry unit. Broadening his drug discovery knowledge and leadership skills, Markus has been heading the Discovery Technologies department at Roche Basel. From 2008 to 2013, he has been holding various functions in Roche’s Cardiovascular & Metabolic Diseases research department including the build-up and lead of the External Innovation & Alliances efforts, heading the department’s Operations team, and since mid 2013 acting as Head of Preclinical Research Cardiovascular & Metabolic Diseases. Under his leadership in the different roles a number of projects entered clinical trials and advanced up to Phase A molecule discovered during an academic collaboration is marketed by now already! In 2014 Markus joined the Roche Group Audit and Risk Advisory department. During then, he has been leading all internal audits related to Research & Development activities as well as audits of the supply chain of both divisions of the Roche Group, Pharmaceuticals and Diagnostics. Since May 2018 he is acting a.i. as Chief Audit & Risk Advisory Executive in charge of all Roche Internal Audits, Internal Investigations, Risk Advisories and Financial Compliance. Dr. Markus Boehringer is also a Chairman of the Board of Directors of Raiffeisen Bank Moehlin, Switzerland. Markus is married and has two adult children, a daughter and a son.
