About Markus Gutsche

As Technical Development Manager, I am the contact person for Medical & Healthcare in Germany at Biesterfeld Plastic since 2021. In my role as Technical Development Manager, I support companies in Germany that want to drive new developments in the field of medical devices and help them to find the right polymer for the specific application in this strictly regulated area. Because there are often topics that go deep into the substance and speed is often of the essence, I am in direct contact with all our vendors. This helps, among other things, to make a preliminary selection and avoid long detours in communication. My interest in polymers began in 2012, when I started an apprenticeship as a Process Mechanic for Plastics and Rubber Technology in Munich. In order to progress in this still quite "young" field, I decided to further my education to become a Technical Engineer for Plastics and Fiber Composite Technology. In 2018, I started my path at Biesterfeld Plastic kicking off with a one-year trainee program. In addition to my role as Sales Manager in 2019, I supported our Automotive Task Force administratively and operationally and was the contact person for biopolymers in Germany. As a strictly regulated area like medical devices requires focused and concentrated attention, Biesterfeld Plastic has decided to segment this field of activity. In order to qualify for this position and meet the requirements of the market, I attended a certificate course for Medical Device Regulatory Affairs at the University of Augsburg in 2021. The main focus was on the new MDR 2017/745 & IVDR 2017/746.
