About Markus L Thalmann

Currently Markus Thalmann is working as professor for Microcontroller and Embedded SW at the Lucerne University of applied science and arts (HSLU). Besides teaching future engineers he is responsible for the research group Digital Systems and is involved in various research projects. Markus Thalmann has over 20 years experience in the field of complex "systems on chip", following both ASIC and COT design flows. Prior to HSLU he worked at two startup companies. At Espros Photonics AG he was leading the project management team which coordinated the development of all integrated optical sensors (3D ToF cameras). At BridgeCo he joined at the company's founding and was responsible for four network processor generations before being promoted to VP level. Prior to BridgeCo, Markus worked in the system engineering and chip architecture groups of the Transmission Systems Department of Siemens Schweiz AG. He holds an MSc (Dipl.Ing) and a PhD degree from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) and a MBA from the Simon School Rochester. Specialties: Managing a mixed HW/SW engineering.
