About Markus Mattila

I am a positive quick-thinker, determined to be a world-class problem solver. What drives me is understanding how complex systems work and designing solutions that make an impact. I am known as a helpful colleague who is pleasant to work with, and a trusted professional able to get a hold of complex issues quickly. I work as a Senior Technical Consultant at RELEX Solutions, a billion-dollar SaaS growth company that provides supply chain solutions for retailers, distributors and manufacturers. My responsibility is providing technical service for dozens of our most complex software implementations for customers in the European market, including multi-billion-dollar retailers. The work includes planning and implementing technical development with e.g. data integrations and databases, investigating and resolving incidents (often urgent in nature), as well as system maintenance and upgrades. I am a Master of Science in the field of Operations Research, having graduated with honours in 2018 at Aalto University. In my Master's Thesis, I built a vehicle routing optimization algorithm capable of outperforming current research results on benchmark test instances. Besides optimization, my other areas of expertise include mathematical modelling, problem solving, data analysis and visualization, simulation and machine learning. One of my biggest passions in life is music. I manage, play guitar and sing in a cover band, and back in the day I was one of the producers for a student musical production Fyysikkospeksi. I live in Vantaa with my partner and our two little children.
