Since I finished my doctorate (PhD) in I work as a theoretical physicist in academic institutions. In the last ten years the focus of my research has been nanofluidics. This means I have been developing theoretical models for the dynamics of fluids (simple liquids, suspensions, solutions) on very small length scales, at which macroscopic hydrodynamic equations (Navier Stokes equation) fail. We have been able to quantify the influence of thermal fluctuations and hydrodynamic boundary slip on the dynamics of dewetting processes and the resulting patterns. And we investigate the influence of intermolecular interactions on nanodroplets. We also develop dynamic density functional theories in order to efficiently model the dynamics of suspensions and dense solutions.
