About Markus Roessler

I began studying music and theatre as a young child. In high school I was awarded Best Improvisational Trombone Soloist at state in New Mexico and performed in state competitions in Colorado, Montana and New Mexico. I marched with The Blue Knights teaching myself the baritone and placed 9th in the world at DCI World Championships. After high school I studied theatre in New York City where I was cast right out of school in the Broadway national tour of Cabaret. It was during this tour I began developing the concept for XIMER. Moving to San Diego to take a break from the city, I fell in love with the wine industry and became a Certified Sommelier and Specialist of Wine. These accolades along with my extensive work history in the food and beverage industry allowed me to open up my dream cafe. Life sometimes has other plans for us and closing the cafe broke my heart but led me back to XIMER. Currently, I am working on creating a series of comic books of XIMER to support the Ali Forney Center in NYC. This center helps LGBT+ individuals who have been exiled by family and friends simply for whom they chose to love which happens to be the central storyline of the show. The dream is to bring the show to stage creating a new genre of musical theatre and shedding light on issues facing the LGBT+ community.
