About Marlene Damery

With over 10 years of experience as a library media specialist, I am passionate about fostering a love of reading and learning among students of all ages and backgrounds. I have a master's degree in education, and certifications in library media and education technology. I am skilled in web content creation, educational technology, and lesson planning. I currently work as a school library media specialist at both Highbridge Hill Elementary School and Boynton Middle School, where I collaborate with teachers and staff to bring information literacy to the classroom and the community. In my role at the Mascenic School District, I create fun and engaging programs for students K-8, such as book fairs, book tasting events, state book award voting, and teen tech week. I also evaluate the current library space and the needs of the school community, and build a library website to showcase the resources and services the library offers. Additionally, I teach information skills classes, such as keyword searching, citation and plagiarism, and database searching techniques. I enjoy working with students and helping them develop critical thinking, research, and digital citizenship skills.
