About Marley Sterner

Marley Sterner is a screenwriter, playwright, and fiction writer based in Vancouver, Canada, where she worked in the film industry for two years before making the shift to animation. She is a graduate of the University of Victoria’s Creative Writing Program, where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree (honours) specializing in screenwriting, and a Minor in History. Marley has been a Second Rounder in the Austin Film Festival Screenwriting Contest, a quarterfinalist in the Screencraft TV Pilot Contest and a two-time quarterfinalist in the Big Break Screenwriting Contest. She has had five plays commissioned by the Heritage Park Historical Village in Calgary, and her fiction work has been featured in the University of Victoria’s Martlet magazine. Her research paper on the portrayal of prostitution in 1920s German cinema has been published in the peer-reviewed journal The Ascendant Historian. Marley is currently applying her passion for animation and growing knowledge of the production pipeline to the development of animated series concepts with vivid, detailed story worlds and character-driven narratives that empower young women.
