Marlon Goodwin, Founder and Executive Director of Goodwin Village, was born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee, as the oldest of seven siblings in a family that lived under the poverty line. Growing up surrounded by the challenges of poverty and violence, Marlon understood firsthand the struggles faced by many young people in Memphis. His life changed when he discovered photography and media skills—creative outlets that allowed him to express himself, heal from trauma, and build a brighter future. Inspired by his own experience, Marlon founded Goodwin Village to give others the same opportunities he had—a chance to break the cycle of poverty through creative expression and skills development. As a father of two sons, ages 14 and 11, Marlon is deeply passionate about creating a better future for the youth in his community. Through his leadership, Goodwin Village equips young people with the tools they need to tell their stories, overcome adversity, and pursue successful careers.
