About Marrissa Hellesen

Hey friends! I'm a principal software engineering manager who has spent her whole career at Microsoft. As a manager, my passion is cultivating strong relationships and growing stellar engineers. My focus is consistently on creating an environment where everyone can thrive and do their best work. I've built experiences for users on Word, Word Online, Outlook, and Excel that span fun front end features to large scale client/server features. Developing at scale has given me a knack for the big picture but I've always maintained my focus on D&I, creating a equitable and safe environment for women and other minorities in tech. I'm always one you can count on to ask the pointy technical questions and the even pointier inclusion ones. I've worked on Win32 applications, web, and Mac and in far too many programming languages. Prior to my time at Microsoft, I spent most of my time mentoring and teaching girls the wonderful creative world of programming and working for a non profit. Let's connect!
