Background
About Marrok Sedgwick
Marrok Sedgwick is currently the Program Manager at CommunicationFIRST. Marrok has worked as a learning scientist, an educator (K-12 and undergraduate), and an independent documentary film and theater producer and director. His research has asked questions such as: What epistemic practices do non-speaking people with developmental disabilities and extensive support needs develop? What technologies did they use (and how) in order to learn and communicate? What futures do designers of learning activities imagine for Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) users when designing those learning activities? His films focus on the lived experiences, hopes, and convictions of people with disabilities and the LGBT+ community. Marrok has expertise in Universal Design for Learning and Performing Arts, disability studies, and disability advocacy. He looks at advocacy and academics from a Disability Justice perspective. He is always open to run workshops on any of these topics.
