About Marrony Mathieu

At European Institute for Energy Research (EIFER, Karlsruhe, Germany) since 2004, I am in charge to lead a team group (20 Researchers and Engineers) and R&D activities portfolio (>4 M€/yr) related to Low Carbon Hydrogen chain value (production H2 by steam water electrolysis, distribution, usage with Fuel Cell). In particular, I oriente the roadmap of R&D activities for EIFER and participate to the decision-making for Electricité de France (EDF) Group business related to hydrogen. Issue to the academic circuit, I graduated in 2004 with a Doctorate in Materials Chemistry at the University of Montpellier (France) with the elaboration of advanced Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) components for fuel cell device. My main PHD results obtained were to integrate such innovative composite PEM electrolytes into complete stack module likely to efficiently operate at extreme operation temperature (>100 - 130°C). Since, I acquired about 20 years’ work experience and scientific expertise in electrolysis and fuel cell technology at EIFER Institute (Germany)- Coordination and Leading of EDF R&D and EIFER activities in Fuel Cell research domain from 2004 to 2017 (Budget > 1 M€/yr)- Scientist Expertise in Proton conducting materials related to energy field: Proton Exchange Membrane technology (PEM, 0-150°C), Protonic Ceramic Cell technology (PCC, 500-700°C)-> 30 scientific articles published, 3 patents delivered, more than 40 appearances at international conferences (among these, 10 as a guest) in the domain -> Coordination of French national projects in PCC (ANR program, Ademe program)-> Member of jury of many PHD defenses in the domain -> Scientific reviewer for scientist journal (J. Power Sources, International Journal for Hydrogen Energy.)-> Scientific Reviewer of international Public Funding Programs and projects (EU EFFIPRO 2007-2010, ANR programs.)-> co-Chairman of international workshop and others organisms related to Energy : Prospects in Proton Ceramic Cell (PPCC) since 2011, CED2 Carnot Institutes in France - Member of decision-making committees at European level (FCH JU, France Hydrogène, GDR IPHY.)- Coordination of public funding projects: ANR-TECTONIC (2005-2008, Feasibility concept of Protonic Ceramic technology in Fuel cell), ANR-CONDOR (2008-2011, Elaboration of High performing and durable Protonic Ceramic Cell in fuel cell), ADEME-COREPAC (2005-2007,Natural gas fuelled HT-PEMFC system for microcogeneration)
