About Martha Barragan

As an experienced and passionate educator, I have dedicated my career to teaching Foreign Languages and supporting the academic and personal growth of my students. With a Bachelor's degree in Adolescent Education and a Master's degree in Literacy Education, I have developed a strong foundation in pedagogy, curriculum development, and language instruction. Throughout my teaching career, I have continually sought to improve my practice through professional development and fieldwork experiences. I have explored diverse teaching methodologies and approaches, including project-based learning and translanguaging, and have created curriculum materials that reflect the latest research in language acquisition and literacy development. As a Spanish teacher, I view language learning as a gateway to new perspectives and cultural understanding. My goal is to create a classroom environment that is supportive, inclusive, and engaging, and that encourages students to take risks and challenge themselves to reach their full potential. In addition to my teaching experience, I have also served as an evaluator for the Seal of Biliteracy program in New York State and have worked as an ESOL teacher for a non-profit organization that provides enrichment classes and mentorship to vulnerable students. I am excited to continue my journey as an educator and to share my knowledge and expertise with colleagues and students alike.
