About Martha Jackson

Joined the Mayor’s Office of Talent and Workforce Development in November 2023 to lead a new initiative on workplace accessibility and inclusion as part of the Plan for Career Success for New Yorkers with disabilities. Previously Assistant Commissioner Workforce and Business Development at New York City's Mayor's Office for People with Disabilities (MOPD). Established the city's first workforce development initiative for New Yorkers across all disabilities, NYC: ATWORK. This business- led, business-driven and person centered approach has connected hundreds of qualified and talented job seekers with disabilities to internships, jobs and careers in all high growth sectors and city government. Established MOPD's first Business Development Council - 100+ business leaders and human resource professionals, providing opportunities, insights and professional guidance, and sharing best practices. Created Disability Etiquette and Awareness Training, support on recruitment, interviewing, reasonable accommodations. Instrumental in creating Empowered NYC, the first financial counseling program for New Yorkers with disabilities and their families. A partnership with NYC Office of Financial Empowerment and National Disability Institute. Spearheaded Empowered Cities, a multi-city collaboration with the Offices of Disability in Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles and San Francisco to address equity, access, financial empowerment, employment and accessible, affordable housing.
