About Martha Paramo

I’m originally from Nicaragua, and I moved to California when I was seven. I grew up in East Palo Alto in a single-mom household with two brothers, surrounded by a community of immigrants who were doing their best to navigate a new country and a new language. Those early experiences shaped who I am and pushed me toward work that centers people, especially families and children.I started my professional journey as an assistant teacher, and over the years I’ve grown into roles that have allowed me to make an even bigger impact. I have more than a decade of community experience, six years of teaching, and a deep passion for helping kids feel supported, confident, and safe. I also love working directly with families—helping them understand and navigate systems like education, healthcare, and community resources. My teaching experience ranges from infants through kindergarten, and later I supported students in grades K–8. From the classroom, I transitioned into leadership as Director of Admissions and Community Engagement, and I now serve as the Director of Transition. With my school preparing to close next year, my current role focuses on guiding families through one of the hardest transitions a school community can face.At the heart of my work is a commitment to equity, empathy, and community. I believe deeply in strengthening the connections between families, schools, and resources so that every child has the chance to thrive.
