Getting a corporate loan in Sweden can be challenging. One option are high street bank, which are generally reluctant to lend; the other option, the government bank with its associated higher interest rates. That’s why I started my own specialist lending firm, “yourCom”, in 2006. yourCom supports SMEs in almost all of Sweden’s industries with asset-backed loans by taking a risk-based approach to lending. Banking and finance has been my life 24/7, first while earning two finance PhDs from Lund University and then while I was employed at Nordea from 2005 to 2016. Even with my doctorate degrees, I started near the bottom at Nordea as most graduates do, and for this, I couldn’t be more thankful. I learned the importance of customer service while working in the Call Centre/Customer Support. I then began progressing my way up within the first year, increasing my knowledge and refining my leadership skills along the way. In 2014, I was appointed the Senior Operational Risk Officer. There, I mastered the ropes regarding second-line operational risk management and compliance risk management. Backed with this knowledge and experience, I took the plunge in 2016 and started yourBan, the parent company of yourCom. The biggest takeaway from my time at Nordea was the importance of a pleasant, professional customer approach. This is the financial service industry. Corporations have a lot on the line. At yourCom, our mission, vision, and values are about creating a pleasant, professional customer experience. That’s not just lip service. It rings through nearly every point of our mission, vision, and values statement. It also reflects what I learned in those early days at Nordea and carried with me throughout my career. It now runs through everything I stand for as Founder/CEO of yourCom.
