About Martijn Fransen

I have over 30 years of experience in high-tech instrumentation for materials research in the fields of electron microscopy, analytical X-ray analysis and Vis-NIR spectroscopy. Responsibility for roadmapping and strategy and have 20+ years experience in managing teams of PhD+ level. I have a strong passion for finding novel solutions for our customers' challenges across various industry sectors. I like to build bridges and create new connections, in- and outside the the organizations I am working with. For me, winning as a team is more important than winning as an individual. In addition to high-end instrumentation, I have experience in digital transformation and the creation of cloud- and on-premise software solutions, overarching individual products. One of these is OmniTrust, an instrument agnostic software solution meant for regulated environments. It was the first common component developed after the merger of Malvern Instruments and PANalytical, recognized by the leadership as a great example of 'building bridges''. Another one is Smart Manager, an IoT solution for monitoring instrument performance, predicting upcoming issues, and maximizing uptime. Smart Return, a solution for precision agriculture, received the Intelligent Manufacturing Award from Microsoft in the category 'scale' in 2024. Currently I am working with NanoMEGAS SPRL on product management and business development for the application of Precession Electron Diffraction (PED) in the Transmission Electron Microscope, an application commonly referred to as 4D-STEM. My mission is to match cutting edge technology with unmet customer needs, creating value for all stakeholders: customers, suppliers, employees and business owners. In my spare time I enjoy bringing people together that share a passion for high-end technology meeting societal needs, through the MinacNed association Additionally I love being outside, hobby farming and trail running, the latter wherever my travels take me.
