About Martin Derbyshire

Having worked in the family business for fifteen years at two different hotels, working my way up from kitchen porter to general manager, I reached a point in my life where I felt that I needed to use the extensive experience and knowledge I had gained to take on a new challenge away from the catering industry. I therefore set up my own business as an accountant and bookkeeper and website designer in 2002. I completed the AAT qualification in 2004 to give my accounts and bookkeeping experience some substance, and a Website Design course in 2002. To gain more knowledge and experience I gained employment in two accountancy practices, one from 2005 to 2006 and the other from 2007 to 2008 which was very beneficial, whilst maintaining a few of my own clients at the same time. I am now concentrating on building my own business up again having finished running an outsource company for one of my long term clients. In 2011, I started working part time at the International Menopause Society as an Admin Assistant and was promoted to Business Support Manager in 2021 with responsibility for the Memberships and website which entails maintaining the membership database, sending out weekly and monthly newsletters to the members, dealing with day to day enquiries and updating the website as and when necessary.
