Background
About Martin Howlett
Martin is a focused individual who has experience in numerous levels of leadership in Cyber Security, Education, Third Sector and Business. My roles as Secondary Headteacher in moving schools out of measures ensures that I fully understand the education system. Still involved in education with coaching schools in both England and Wales. Working in the USA in education and business has also allowed me to develop experience in an international context. As founding member of the Fermain Academy And YES Trust I have a passion for giving every young person the best possible chance in education. As CEO of Cheshire Connect my team facilitate business CSR to make a big difference to charities across Cheshire and Warrington. We link business skills to charities free of charge. I have developed and deliver leadership development programmes across the sector. I also worked in the charity sector with the Youth Fed. As Partnership Director, I helped the charity to grow so that it now supports over young people a year. I am also Chair of the Board for Cheshire Young Carers, a Trustee and SIRO for the Hospice of the Good Shepherd. This has allowed me to develop a deep understanding of charity governance in both main stream and also in a clinical setting. As Director at Templar Executives, Cyber Security, Cyber Education and career development has been a focus for me. Successfully implementing the NW Cyber Security and Protection Pilot in schools, youth organisations and businesses has allowed me a deep understanding of the challenges and solutions around the skills gap in this very important area of the UK economy. Appointed to the Information Assurance and Advisory Council (IAAC) as Vice Chairman, my role is to support the development and implementation of an IAAC community in the NW. IAAC is a unique partnership that brings together corporate leaders, public policy makers, law enforcement and the research community to address the challenges of managing risks to information. Managing these risks involves both technology and human activities. IAAC is engaged in the development of policy recommendations to government and corporate leaders at the highest levels. Its recommendations are influential because IAAC's Sponsors and Members comprise leading commercial end-users, government policy makers and distinguished academics. My work at Templar Executives allows me to develop and support digital resilience and security across a number of different sectors.
