About Martin Rey

I am a Senior Database Administrator / Architect with more than 25 years of experience in a multitude of database environments. I consider myself well versed in current versions of Oracle, Sybase, and SQL Server, with specifics towards infrastructure and operations. My primary focus revolves around database infrastructure architecture, maintenance, performance/capacity improvements, and environment conversions. Additional focus includes database security, advanced design, standardization of configuration, and operational automation within high-availability environments. My years of work have provided me with a wide variety of experience in customer interaction, both internal or external to the companies I have worked with. Working with multi-tier environments, an integral part of the customer facing applications and internal operations, I have always had a unique understanding toward the bigger picture for companies I have worked with. This has allowed me to maintain the balance between what a customer needs and what a customer asks for. Considered a subject matter expert, my skill set also has allowed me to excel within the on-going support structure of existing database environments. This has expanded into opportunities to perform database architectural design, mentoring other database administrators/programmers, and perform technical team lead activities. This has included being the lead of production support teams from both a technical and process/procedure point of view. On a personal note, I have always felt a day is a good day when you learn something. Due to this I attempt to keep myself aware of chances to learn from others and apply it to what I do. Regardless of training or experience one can always learn something from someone else.
