About Martin Simonsson

My entire working life has been spent with Consilium in the field of Marine Fire and Gas detection. In march 2022 I had spent a whole 25 years in the company. Focus over the years has always been Service and Installation on site, onboard the vast amount of ships that Consilium has supplied. Stretching from small ships up to the largest Cruise-ships its been a pleasure to work with such a range of customers and different type of installations. Its the constant variation and development of ships that has kept the marking interesting in this long time. Moving from the Workshop back in the late 90s as a new Electrical engineer, I soon started to support Customers on site as well as in written form via Remote support. Later on I involved in the Training role also, having training sessions over both day and weeklong courses to Consilium offices and Service agents world wide. Also Sales support and meeting customers do support on the technical side in new offers have been part of the mix. This has continued all the way up to current time, with a constant changing mix of various tasks needed to satisfy the needs of customers and local offices. Our two main product groups are Fire and Gas alarms and I have had the pleasure to work on both in a rather deep level. In terms of Gas detection I probably rank as one of the most experienced in the entire company today. The traveling has become something natural, always ready to head out to the next project where ever it might be. The main Focus and motor has always been the attendance onboard, meeting the crews and dealing with the needs and adaptions necessary to complete the tasks onboard without compromising ships safety and to ensure onboard operations are not conflicted. Especially on Passenger ships this is always very important. In the lately rising LNG sector which I had the pleasure of being part of our systems have taken a very important role and this raises the needs of technical performance on all levels. Most of the correspondance and service is done remotely, and I have become rather experienced in supplying understandable technical advice in written form. This I nowadays do in both English and German when needed, having the pleasure of working towards the German market a lot in the last years.
