About Martina Walsh

Martina graduated from the Ordinary and Honours Degree Applied Healthcare course in Waterford Institute of Technology, gaining a Distinction and a First Class Honours grade respectively. Within the Applied Healthcare course Martina has completed numerous work placements in various healthcare settings including older adult, medical/surgical care and intellectual disability. Along with the experience of work placements Martina has completed fundamental care skills in a simulated hospital environment and has passed O.S.C.E. exams in various skills. Technical roles in healthcare, ethical and legal issues in healthcare, evidence based practice and healthcare management were some of the modules within the fourth year add on. Within the technical roles module, Martina has completed skills labs in surgical scrubbing, gowning and draping, ECG monitoring and reading, venepuncture and airway management using Guedal airway, bag-mask device, endotracheal intubation and LMA's. Martina has a keen interest in Health Informatics and is currently studying online courses related to this field including Python for data analysis. Martina chose the topic of electronic health records for her ethical and legal issues module.
