About Marty Akers

Teaching Philosophy My teaching philosophy is very simple. Get your learning process and show your teaching method in a way the students can understand and comprehend it. I will foster learning in many different ways. Each of us has different learning styles. My job will be to find a happy medium for all my students. It is important to create an atmosphere that they can actually learn in. Depending on the subject matter, I do my best to interact with the students to see where I need to start my teaching with them. Are they new to the subject or do they know some areas of the subject? As an instructor, I am here to give them all I have to help them make it in their field of study. But letting them also remember that my job is not done even after they have passed the course and moved on. I still let my students know that I am still here if they have any questions. I feel that is very important to be connected with your students. Just because they move on is no reason to stop the relationship of student and teacher. It usually is a long relationship that I have the opportunity to develop with them. With each course, I continue to improve my confidence in the classroom. I look for ways to improve the course and interact with the students. The learning process will never end just because the student moves on. I plan to experiment with different ways to increase the learning process for my students. I will always be there for them and never give up growing my knowledge and developing theirs. To conclude, my goal as an instructor is to install a passion for learning within my students in a way that they can react and relate to. Hopefully, students will look back with their time in my class and be able utilize something in their everyday lives.
