About Marty Colvin

I have always tried to be a positive influence on my peers throughout my career. I am a firm believer that teamwork is the key to success. During my time in the service I had one of the most dangerous jobs in the world. I was the captain of one of four catapults on board the USS Nimitz aircraft carrier. As a catapult captain I had 18 guys working for me during this time. There was no margin for errors or mistakes. If you weren’t on top of your game people’s lives were at stake as well as multimillion dollar aircraft. I travelled all over the world while in the military. I received a Navy Achievement Medal for my participation in a 96 hour aerial campaign in the Middle East. I received a Distinguished Service Medal for my team’s role in rigging the barricade to catch an F-18 Hornet loaded with two sidewinder missiles. I attended Bud/s in March of 1997. This was the greatest challenge of my life mentally and physically. I got hurt three weeks into the program and rolled out of the program four days into Hell week. I have always been a hard charger, self-motivated and a positive influence for my peers.
