About Marty Walsh

I am the Economic Development and Key Accounts Manager for People’s Energy Cooperative, a rural electric cooperative serving members in Southeast Minnesota. My work includes providing a high level of member service to our largest power users, making the cooperative both a partner in both energy and business development; as well as working to grow the communities we serve in the broadest sense of the idea. I manage our USDA Rural Business Development Loan program, assist with our Electric Vehicle Charging program, and represent the Cooperative at a number of community and regional organizations. Beginning in 2023, I took over managing the Cooperative's Legislative Relations program as well, researching relevant regulatory issues and building relationships with State and Federal Legislators. Before joining People’s Energy, I was a Community and Business Development Specialist with Community and Economic Development Associates, Inc, serving the Economic and Community Development needs of cities and counties throughout southeast Minnesota. For Four Years I was a Financial Advisor with Edward Jones, working to help people fulfil their serious, long term financial goals. This includes but is not limited to saving for retirement, saving for education and ensuring savings are working as hard as they need to. Prior to this, I briefly worked as a furniture salesman at a local furniture store after working as the Executive Director at Main Street Mason City, the downtown association for Mason City, IA for two years. They serve as a Chamber of Commerce/Economic Development/Historic and Cultural Preservation/Support group for the traditional downtown environment and are part of the National Main Streets organization. Prior to Main Street Mason City I had worked in Retail and Wholesale Liquor Sales since graduating from St. John's University and the College of St. Benedict in May of 2009.
