About Martyn Carr

I have had a broad and pretty successful 30+ year career with some major brands including American Express, Thomas Cook, Sainsburys, Legal & General and EMI. Back in March 2006 I was a VP in IT at American Express and I was encouraged to read a book called Coaching for Performance by John Whitmore. When my copy arrived from Amazon, I devoured it as if I was enthralled by new thinking like a radical political pamphlet from a different age."Wow" I thought, this coaching stuff is the missing piece in my leadership and managerial skillset, and I felt compelled to learn more. So that year I signed up for a Masters degree in Coaching & Development which I finished in 2010. Since then, my initial zeal has tempered a bit - I still think coaching is really great albeit not the answer to all your leadership challenges. Unless you are extraordinarily talented or lucky, I don't think coaching alone makes for a great business model. Fortunately, I am no longer striving to build the sort of career that's designed to provide surety for a family. At 60, I remain ambitious to work with leaders who may be searching for fresh inspiration and who want to grow, either themselves as leaders or their businesses. From a geographical POV my loci is South East England although I do happily and occasionally operate across Europe too.
