About Martyna Markowski

I am a well-qualified Masters of Social Work graduate with a strong background in clinical practice, education and advocacy, research, social services, social policy formation, and clerical/ administrative work. It is this background that makes me well prepared to undergo the tasks of communicating with patients, clients, and families, collecting and documenting information and case notes, conducting research, assessing data, organizing agency resources and events, and conducting education and advocacy efforts. I am very passionate about working with clients, patients, agency staff, and community members to work towards education and advocacy, connecting others with resources, conducting research, promoting social justice, and providing appropriate counselling or intervention where appropriate. I am also very comfortable with working with persons with medical sensitivities (mental and physical), and am passionate about bio-ethics, social justice, and anti-oppressive practice. I have very strong communication and interpersonal skills and work well both independently, and with others. My past major achievements include: Working in an interdisciplinary team of doctors, nurses, pharmacists, dietitians, and social workers as an MSW clinical student (Renal Social Work) at Windsor Regional Hospital. Creating and designing Windsor Regional Hospital’s Renal Dialysis Website and Social Work Standards of Practice. Advocating for student rights, needs, and program improvement as both the MSW Student Representative, and Student Council member.(Successfully advocated for an online course for MSW field practicum, as requested by students at the University of Windsor). Networking with partner agencies, conducting and organizing education, research, and advocacy events (Both online and in-community) as an MSW intern at Pathway to Potential. Forming a new social policy program as a research team member for The Corporation of the City of Windsor’s Employment and Social Services.
